How can I improve my website to get better results?

To start with, think of your website as your Business Development Manager or salesperson.

A salesperson needs nurturing, on-going training and advice, targets and goals set, to be kept up to date with the latest information and technology, good communication skills and finally needs to look the part to best reflect your business.

You wouldn’t send out a salesperson unprepared or not dressed appropriately, or would you?

Does your website truly reflect your business and does it communicate your message properly?

Ten questions you may want to ask yourself about your website.

  1. Is your website up-to-date and modern?
  2. Does your website reflect how good your business is?
  3. Does your website rank well in Google?
  4. What is your competition doing better than you?
  5. What Keywords are ranking well?
  6. Are you leveraging off well written Page Title tags?
  7. Does your site utilise text based URLs?
  8. Are you capturing User Data when they visit your website?
  9. Is there a reason for customers to revisit your website?
  10. Are you monitoring Site Statistics, Traffic, Referrers?

Bonus 3 Questions to ask yourself.

  1. Do you keep your site's content fresh by updating Blogs and News regularly?
  2. Are you connected to Social Media sites such as twitter / facebook / LinkedIn?
  3. How large is your Online Footprint?

Read your web content. Does it make sense? Is it littered with Keywords? If necessary rewrite or adjust your content so it is easy to understand and for someone to take action. Again put yourself in your customers shoes. It's that simple.

Updating your content often is one of the most important things you can do to help with search engine optimisation.
